Do you ever feel the affects of aging on your body? Unfortunately, as with every other part of our body, our teeth can just get old. But age doesn’t have to mean poor health! There are plenty of methods and oral health treatments you can use to make sure your teeth will remain strong and last a lifetime.

Eating well is a great first step to helping your teeth last longer! Avoid foods and food products that can harm your teeth, such as acidic or sugary foods. Your teeth may weaken as you age, so you should avoid foods that can easily crack or fracture your teeth. These may include foods such as hard candy and corn on the cob. Stop chewing on ice; it is meant for cooling drinks, not for eating. Also, stop dangerous habits to your health such as smoking tobacco and using drugs, as these also damage your teeth.

The most important thing you can do is brush and floss your teeth. Every. SIngle. Day. The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth twice a day, for 2 minutes per session. They also recommend flossing every day, making sure to clean between and around every tooth. This should take 2-3 minutes per day, and it will help save you a lot of dental trouble.
