Even though your holiday parties are fun and enjoyable for you, they might not be for your smile, especially if you don’t keep your teeth and gums in mind while you consume tooth-harming treats and beverages. However, you can change that. If you do your best to keep your oral health in tip-top shape while you’re at your holiday parties, there is a chance your smile can remain in pristine condition. So, to help you, our Arden Dental Group dental team encourages you to do the following things:

Eat healthy holiday snacks: Instead of reaching for the sugary and starchy snacks, try grabbing foods that are packed with fiber, like carrots, celery, and hard cheeses. If you want to get even crazier, you can chew on some garnish.

Be smart with your beverage choice: To avoid tooth stains, it’s best to avoid drinking soda, black tea, coffee and wine—both red and white. If you have no choice but to drink these beverages, make sure to wash the liquid away with some water. The best drinks to consume are water and green tea. Water can keep you hydrated and wash away harmful and foul-smelling bacteria and green tea can suppress the growth of bacteria.

Use quick party freshen-ups: If you need to quickly freshen your mouth, try rinsing with a mixture of water and a few drops of peppermint oil. You can also chew a piece of sugarless gum or eat a piece of sugarless candy. Doing these things will stimulate saliva flow and wash the smelly bacteria away.
